Synopsis: Over the next 24 hours, shallow low level patches embedded within a moderate to fresh trade wind flow will continue to move across the area and could maintain a moderate chance for shower activity over and around the islands during that time.
Weather today: Partly sunny skies, with brief cloudy spells and a 60 percent or moderate chance of brief passing showers.
Weather tonight: Fair to partly cloudy skies with a 40 percent or moderate chance of brief overnight showers.
Winds: East at 15 to 30 km/h or 9 to 18 mph..
Seas: North easterly swells reaching 1.8 to 2.4 metres or 6 to 8 feet. Therefore a high surf advisory is in effect until Wednesday morning.
Locations to be affected: Reefs and exposed northern and eastern coastlines with relatively shallow, gently to moderately sloping, nearshore areas.
Potential Impacts: Loss of lifeโstrong currents that can carry even the strongest swimmers out to sea; injuries to beachgoers; beach erosion; sea water splashing onto low-lying coastal roads; beach closures; localized disruptions to
marine recreation and businesses; financial losses; damage to coral reefs; saltwater intrusion and disruptions to potable water from desalination. High surfs can knock spectators off exposed rocks and jetties.
