SERVICE 4 DAY FORECAST SYNOPSIS FOR THE VI
Synopsis:
A frontal trough which is currently located across Hispaniola will start
to impact the weather across the British Virgin Islands with the atmosphere
becoming highly unstable Thursday through to Friday. Around this period shower
and thunderstorm activity is expected to be high. In the meantime some shallow
moisture moving into the Leeward Islands from the southeast could result in
some cloudy spells with passing showers. However, starting Friday afternoon and
continuing into Sunday, the frontal trough is anticipated to move into the
Leeward Islands and hence, there is a high chance of heavy rainfall and
numerous thunderstorms around this period.
Winds: A generally
E-ESE windflow will prevail with speeds not exceeding 12 knots.
Seas: Normal
heights will continue in the coastal waters around the islands. Heights should
not exceed 5 feet or 1.5 meters.
