The 2015 Atlantic Hurricane Season appears to be getting off to an early
start.

Forecasters have confirmed the existence of Disturbance 1, which is currently located over the Bahamas and is very disorganised. It
is expected to gradually organise into a low pressure system that
is likely to move slowly northward to north-northeastward.
Disturbance 1 has a 50 percent chance of becoming a subtropical storm by late
Thursday or Friday, at which time it will be a few hundred miles southeast of
the South Carolina Coast.  Minor impacts from wind and surf are possible
along the Carolina coast late this week and early in the weekend. However, if
the system tracks a little closer to the coast, then there could be some heavier
rain and higher winds.

If the system develops
it would become the first named storm for the 2015 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
At this time, the disturbance is no threat to the British Virgin Islands.
However, residents are reminded make to preparations for the upcoming
season.
