Tropical Storm Grace continues to move west. An Alert maybe issued for some of the Islands in the next 48 hours. An alert means that a tropical cyclone is in a threatening position to the islands and usually comes 24-48 hours before a watch.
At 500 AM, the centre of Tropical Storm Grace was located near latitude 13.5 North, longitude 33.9 West. Grace is moving toward the west near 16 mph, and this general motion is expected to continue over the next couple of days.
Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast during the next day or so, followed by gradual weakening thereafter.
Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 60 miles from the centre.
The estimated minimum central pressure is 1002 mb.
Tropical Storm Grace is located in the far Eastern Atlantic and at present, is not a threat to the British Virgin Islands. Residents are encouraged to monitor the system and the DDM for updates when necessary.
