An area of disturbed weather (low pressure system) is developing a few hundred miles south of the Virgin Islands. This, in conjunction with the present weather features, will continue to enhance weather instability across the territory. Forecasters have indicated there is a possibility of 1 – 4 inches of rain during the four day forecast period with higher amounts being possible in isolated areas.
Although rainfall amounts have been minimal there is an abundance of moisture in the area. Residents should continue to monitor the weather conditions and remain alert in the event flood statements are issued. Persons who live in areas that are prone to flooding should take precaution by securing items, checking around their property to ensure water run-off is possible and evaluate drains for signs of blockage.
At this time no watches are warnings have been issued for the British Virgin Islands however the DDM will continue to monitor and provide information as it becomes available.
