The National Hurricane Centre Is issuing advisories on newly regenerated Tropical Storm Kirk. A number of warnings and watches have been issued for some countries.

SUMMARY OF WATCHES AND WARNINGS IN EFFECT:

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Barbados and St. Lucia

A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for St. Vincent and the Grenadines

A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions are expected somewhere within the warning area within 36 hours.

A Tropical Storm Watch means that tropical storm conditions are possible within the watch area, in this case within 36 hours.

Location: 11.8 North 52.7 West

About 470 miles… East of Barbados

About 912 miles… East South East of the British Virgin Islands

Maximum sustained winds…45 mph

Present movement…West at 18 mph

Minimum central pressure…1004 mb

SITUATION FOR THE BVI

September 26, 2018 – Tropical Storm Force Winds are expected to stay south of the Territory however outer rain bands from the system may create unstable conditions.

Winds: 10 – 20 mph with higher gusts possible

Rainfall Amounts: showers and thunderstorms with rainfall of 1 – 2 inches are possible with higher amounts.

Seas: An advisory in is effect due to Northern Swells. This may increase to a Warning as the system gets closer to the area around Friday. Small craft operators are asked to exercise caution and sea bathers are asked to exercise caution due to possible rip current on northern coasts.

No watches or warnings issued are for the territory however, the DDM will continue monitor and provide updates of any changes.
