Instability associated with a strong tropical wave continues to affect the BVI. The wave is embedded within a moist environment. In addition, an increase in daytime temperature is supporting occasional showers over the islands with some moderate to locally heavy showers. Based on wind analysis, the middle of the wave is now west of the BVI and will continue to move away from the territory as the day progresses.
Outlook for the next 24hrs: The atmosphere is expected to remain moist and unstable for the rest of today. The moderate to fresh winds is expected to support occasional brief showers which will be moderate to locally heavy in some instances.
Overnight and into tomorrow morning, moisture levels will begin to reduce as a drier and more stable environment returns over the BVI. Therefore, locally cloudy skies with occasional showers will continue today; as a result, the flash flood advisory continues for portions of the BVI until further notice. Overnight and early tomorrow a reduction and general improvement are expected over the Territory.
The Department of Disaster Management will continue to monitor the systems and advise the public accordingly. Please visit our website at www.bviddm.com and subscribe for updates or join us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/bvi.ddm/
